On October 13th, 2020, The Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications solemnly celebrated the 90th anniversary of the University's Foundation.

SPbSUT is known as the largest scientific and educational center and cooperates with hundreds of universities, scientific organizations, enterprises and companies not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders, so there were many people who wanted to congratulate the University on its anniversary. However, due to the restrictive measures imposed due to the situation with coronavirus, the University administration decided to reduce the solemn program. And yet the celebration took place. On this day, the head of the Federal Communications Agency O. G. Dukhovnitsky and the Vice-governors of St. Petersburg V. N. Knyaginin and A.N. Belsky, head of the representative office of Rostelecom in Geneva – representative in ITU A. S. Borodin, rector of MTUCI S. D. Erokhin, rector of PSUTI D. V. Mishin, Director of the Central Musium of Communication named after A. S. Popov A. I. Burdin came to congratulate the University.

The beginning of the celebrations was marked by a midday cannon shot from the wall of the Naryshkin Bastion of the Peter and Paul fortress. The honorary right to make a shot was given to the best graduate of SPbGUT in 2020, Oleg Guminsky.

The celebration continued at the University, where the opening of a new research and testing laboratory for Innovative Infocommunications of PJSC Rostelecom took place.

Then the guests were invited to a solemn meeting and an artistic marked concert dedicated to the anniversary of the University.

Oleg Dukhovnitsky in his speech warmly congratulated the entire team on the anniversary and noted that the University today, as before, has something to be proud of: "The Rossvyaz Agency closely monitors the activities of Bonch, and we are convinced that it is currently at the forefront of industrial universities, being an example for them. It's worth a lot!".

Rector S. V. Bachevsky reported on the success of SPbSUT over the past five years in his presentation: "the University is developing dynamically, and in all directions. A great teaching staff and staff, a strong scientific base and modern infrastructure, talented students and postgraduates-all this allows us to confidently look to the future and train qualified, well-educated specialists."

Vice-Governor and our graduate Alexander Nikolaevich Belsky read out congratulations on behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg A.D. Beglov and the Chairman of the Committee on science and higher education (CSHE) A. S. Maksimov. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the University, CSHE expressed gratitude to the staff of SPbSUT "for many years of conscientious work, a great contribution to the development of professional education and scientific potential of St. Petersburg". Concluding the speech, A. N. Belsky joined in the congratulations and added: "I am proud to hold the title of "bonchevets" and am sincerely grateful to my University for the fact that it was a great start for me in my future professional career."

All the guests were unanimous that 90 years for the University is just the beginning of the road, and Bonch has many new achievements ahead for the benefit of the development of St. Petersburg and the whole of Russia.

In the framework of the meeting of the awarding of the "bonch" departmental awards. Teachers, scientists and employees of SPbSUT were awarded commendations and certificates of Honor Professor, Department of communication networks and data transmission O. S. Kognovitskii was awarded the Order of Friendship.

These days, SPbSUT received a lot of congratulations from the country's and city's leaders: Minister of digital development, communications and mass communications of the Russian Federation M. I. Shadaev, head of the Federal communications Agency O. G. Dukhovnitsky, Governor of St. Petersburg A. D. Beglov, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V. I. Matvienko, Deputy head of the Federal communications Agency (Rossvyaz) R. V. Sheredin; from our famous graduates-B. V. Gryzlov (Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation (2003-2011) and L. D. Reyman (Minister of communications and Informatization of the Russian Federation (1999-2004), Minister of Information technologies and communications of the Russian Federation (2004-2008), adviser to the President of the Russian Federation (2008-2010), as well as from many other graduates, friends and partners of our famous University.

In conclusion, the audience was presented a video prepared by the creative team of the SPbSUT Media Center for the anniversary date and telling about the historical path and present day of our University.
