Happy Cosmonautics Day!

On April 12th, Cosmonautics Day is celebrated in Russia – a memorable date dedicated to the triumph of science and progress in the space industry.

More than 60 years have passed since the historic flight into space of Yuri Gagarin. The significant launch was led by Sergey Korolev, Leonid Voskresensky and Anatoly Kirillov. The launch of the spacecraft was successful, and after the separation of the last stage of the Vostok launch vehicle, it made a free flight around our planet. The circumnavigation of the globe took 108 minutes, after which the ship landed at the planned place at 10:55 Moscow time.

This event opened the era of space exploration, forever entering the history of mankind and becoming the result of the enormous work of hundreds of factories and thousands of specialists of our country. And today Russia is rightfully one of the world's leading space powers, successfully implementing numerous scientific, commercial, defense programs in near-Earth orbit and in deep space.

In honor of the holiday, various events are held in different countries – exhibitions, conferences, scientific and educational lectures and seminars, film screenings and much more.

Despite the fact that every year the first human flight into space is farther away from us, it is important to remember what a lot of work has been done to make it happen. And today, hundreds of thousands of people work in the space industry, making space flights a reality.

Cosmonautics Day is our common holiday, and in connection with this wonderful event, we wish all "bonchevets" happiness, health, well–being and achievement of space frontiers!
