June 22 - The Day of Remembrance and Sorrow

22 june 2023

The troops of Nazi Germany violated the border of the Soviet Union and attacked our country on June 22, 1941 at 4 o'clock in the morning. This is one of the saddest and most tragic dates in our history.

Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union without declaring war in the early morning. German troops crossed the Soviet border. Many European countries had been enslaved by Fascist Germany. The Soviet people took the most powerful blow.

The Soviet people made a decisive contribution to the liberation of the peoples of Europe and to the defeat of Hitler 's troops in a bloody war .

Leningrad Electrical Engineering Institute of Communications met this day in working mode. The examination session ended in the second decade of June 1941. Exams were passed at three faculties, diploma projects were defended, students were sent to practice, research work was successfully conducted at the Institute.

The war opened a new page in the history of the Institute. Graduates of 1941, who immediately had to put on a military uniform, did not have time to be awarded diplomas. Those who survived received diplomas only after the end of the war.

Every year on June 22, we remember our relatives and friends who didn't return from the war, mourn for those who met death on the battlefields, died of wounds in hospitals, died of starvation and torture in Nazi concentration camps.

Eternal memory to the fallen in the battles for the Motherland! Eternal glory to the soldiers who gave us peace and freedom!
