The results of the student Olympiad "Infotelecom" have been summed up

On March 10th, SPbSUT announced the names of the winners of the Infotelecom-2022 project - the Olympiad for bachelors from telecommunications and technical universities in Russia and the CIS. The event brought together 464 people from Russia, Belarus and Tajikistan. The strongest participants received gifts and a chance to get into the Master's program of SPbSUT without exams.

The Olympiad was held in two stages. In January-February 2022, students performed tests on the project's website itc.sut.ru. On March 10th, SPbSUT hosted the final of the Olympiad, 137 people were selected for this step. The students were offered to do a practical task, solve cases from partner companies, and make presentations at the competition of scientific reports.

The results of the Olympiad were summed up on the same day by the heads of the directions and representatives of partner companies - PJSC Rostelecom, FSUE Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS), PJSC MegaFon, JSC Tele-2-Saint Petersburg, LLC T8, Scientific and Technical center Argus.

"The Infotelecom Olympiad helps to select the best, motivated, most worthy and capable students. This is a ticket to life, to the university!", - said the acting rector of SPbSUT, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Georgy Mashkov.

The participants, prize-winners and winners of the project were welcomed by experts from partner companies. Andrey Petukhov, Regional Director for Information Technologies at PJSC Rostelecom, stressed that the students had chosen "a difficult but interesting path."

"Our company participates with great interest in supporting the Infotelecom Olympiad. Thanks to such projects, specialized education in Russia is developing. You know how to apply knowledge, improvise, you are ready for professional self-development. I wish you not to slow down, catch every opportunity!" he said.

Ruslan Evseev, Director of the branch of RTRS "St. Petersburg Regional Center", expressed gratitude to the University of Telecommunications for fruitful cooperation.

"Such events help to form and strengthen the staff of our company – after all, only those who intend to become a leader participate in them. One of the strongest qualities of a leader is the desire to be the best. Dare to be the best and the first always and everywhere – it moves you and the university forward, and then the entire professional sphere!", - he noted.

Sergey Timoshin, Director of Tele2 macro-region "North-West", stressed that thanks to participation in the Olympiad, students develop over-the-top skills.

"Any student competitions are a good preparation for real life, when it is necessary to show flexibility of thinking, to do it in stressful situations and in conditions of limited time. This is how relevant skills are being developed now. It is doubly pleasant to support active students in our specialized university, with which we cooperate fruitfully. You know, it's not so much smart guys who make their way in life, but initiative and purposeful ones. The Olympians are fine with this. I am sure that they will be successful on their professional path," he said.

Konstantin Marchenko, Deputy General Director for Strategic Development of T8 LLC, drew the students' attention to the fact that they are engaged in communication, which means that they ensure the security of the Motherland.

"Communication channels are like blood vessels. Each of you can consider yourself a doctor of your homeland. The future depends on what you do now," he added.

Mikhail Uskov, Technical Director of the Argus Scientific and Technical Center, spoke about the role of infocommunications as one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy. He stressed that the members of the Olympiad jury appreciated the flexibility and non-standard approach shown by the participants.

Alexander Buchatsky, Director of the Graduate Institute of St. Petersburg State University, spoke about the bonuses of participating in the Infotelecom Olympiad. Thus, the project participants receive a certificate that gives 5 additional points upon admission to the Master's program. Prize-winners awarded by partner companies receive 20 points each. The winners of the Olympiad receive 100 points each and can enroll in the Master's program of SPbSUT without exams.

During the award ceremony, the winners and prize-winners of Infotelecom received diplomas and gifts.
