Foreign students of SPbSUT visited the Russian Ethnographic Museum

9 march 2023

Foreign students of the Preparatory department who learn Russian as a foreign language visited the Russian Ethnographic Museum – one of the largest in St Petersburg. Monuments of 157 peoples and ethnographic groups of Russia and neighboring countries are kept here.

Russian language teachers Natalia Fursova and Olga Kareva accompanied the students. The guests of the museum got acquainted with the exposition, which presents household items, religion, artistic creativity and crafts of the people of the Volga region, the Urals, the Caucasus, Siberia and the Far East.

Exhibitions dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the USSR, decorative and applied art of Muslim peoples and an exhibition of Russian kokoshniks aroused great interest among visitors.

Students who came to SPbSUT from different countries – Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Benin, China, Lebanon – got a visual representation of the diversity of cultures of multinational Russia.

We hope that the scale of the museum's expositions, its beauty and grandeur did not leave students indifferent, and they will keep only the warmest memories about this trip.

Visits to the city's museums and SPbSUT events allow students to learn Russian more effectively and better adapt to the country. The most striking examples of such events are Novruz and International Festival of National Cultures. These events are organized by International Cooperation Department for the cultural education of students.
