Interfaculty Laboratory of cyber physical systems opened in SPbSUT

On February 22nd, the Interfaculty Laboratory of Cyberphysical Systems officially opened its doors at the Department of Software Engineering and Computer Engineering at SPbSUT. The equipped complex will allow organizing and providing educational, research, innovative activities in the field of cyberphysical systems, conducting joint research with other departments of the university.

The event was attended by the first vice–rector - Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Georgy Mashkov, Vice-rector for Scientific Work Alexander Shestakov, Dean of the Faculty of ICSS Darina Okuneva, Dean of the Faculty of RTS Dmitry Kirik, Head of the Department of IRPT Ruslan Kirichek, Head of the Department of ISAU Galina Verkhova, employees and student scientific society of the Department of IRPT.

Nikita Utkin, Chairman of the Technical Committee 194 "Cyber-Physical Systems" of Rosstandart, and Alexey Borodin, Head of the Rostelecom representative office in Geneva, the Russian representative to the International Telecommunication Union, made welcoming remarks.

The head of the Department of Software Engineering and Computer Facilities R. Kirichek told about the goals and objectives of the laboratory.

"The Interfaculty Laboratory of Cyberphysical Systems is a modern complex of advanced equipment and multifunctional software that allows conducting research in the most advanced applied areas of telecommunications and software engineering, such as digital twins, industrial Internet of Things, metaverses and much more," he explained.

The laboratory complex consists of a fragment of a production line, which includes: robotic manipulators with angular kinematics and plane-parallel kinematics, control equipment, sets of smart devices for building a production line and PTC ThingWorx software.

The PTC ThingWorx software is a universally recognized software product that is used as a cloud platform for the industrial Internet of Things, and is also focused on creating digital twins and includes a powerful analytics apparatus for building short- and long-term forecasts of the behavior of cyberphysical systems.

"The Cyberphysical Systems Laboratory allows conducting not only training sessions and scientific research, but also competitions of all-Russian scale, such as WorldSkills - young professionals in the competence of the Internet of Things and cyberphysical systems, as well as professional training for them on certified software and hardware," added R. Kirichek.

Demonstrated the capabilities of the laboratory in practice - the functioning of the production line layout, digital duplicates of the manipulator and electrical substation, as well as the general in cyberspace using avators, Ph.D., Associate Professor A. Pachin, Ph.D. Pham Van Dai, graduate student M. Rozhkov, undergraduate student D. Isaenko and a student P. Davidov.

It is worth noting that this laboratory has the status of an inter-faculty and allows students of Faculty of Infocommunication Networks and Systems, Faculty of Radiotechnologies of Communication and Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies to conduct training and research. The head of the laboratory was appointed Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of IRPT Andrey Pachin, engineer - Dmitry Isaenko. The scientific complex is located in auditorium 437/2.
