New academic year at the preparatory department for foreign citizens

20 december 2021

On December 8th, the long-awaited full-time classes began at the preparatory department for foreign citizens under the guidance of a teacher, Ph.D. Olga Kareva. The guys enthusiastically continue to study Russian within the walls of SPbSUT. Until that day, all classes were held only in an online format.

SPbSUT has been successfully training foreign applicants for several years. And for many of them, studying at the preparatory department is the stage that determines their future, on which successful admission to bachelor's, master's and postgraduate programs depends. In addition, it is during this period that the children get acquainted with the history, culture and traditions of Russia, visiting the museums of St. Petersburg and going on excursions to other cities (for example, to Veliky Novgorod).

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic in the last academic year, none of the children enrolled in the preparatory department were able to start full-time classes. But this did not prevent them from successfully completing the program, obtaining a certificate of completion of the course and remotely enrolling in our university.

In the 2021/2022 academic year, 38 people from 6 countries are attending the preparatory department of SPbSUT: Azerbaijan, Algeria, Gabon, Egypt, Italy, Tunisia. The guys from Azerbaijan, Algeria and Tunisia were the first to arrive in St. Petersburg. Soon, everyone else will arrive to join the full-time classes as soon as possible.

We wish the guys good luck in their endeavors!
