The SPbSUT has become one of five Russian universities hosting the Huawei Cup 2021 one-day festivals in October 2021 - Eurasian ICT competitions for students and young professionals.
The St. Petersburg Regional Huawei Cup Festival was held in SPbSUT on October, 26th. The students listened to lectures by Huawei experts in Russia Mikhail Slabodkin and Elena Tabuyeva, got acquainted with the company's career opportunities and the Huawei ICT Academy project, demonstrated their knowledge in the Huawei Cup 2021 quiz in a mobile application.
The participants tried their hand in several nominations: 5G (Technologies and standards of a new generation of mobile communications), AI (Models and methods of artificial intelligence), Storage (Components of data centers), IP (Technologies and protocols of IP networks), APP (Huawei mobile Application Design) and ICT Observer (ICT Observer).
According to the results of the quiz, the best students received valuable prizes and were invited to participate in the second stage of the competition. On the same day, the company conducted interviews of students.
All participants of Huawei Cup 2021 received access to a free online school with video lectures from Huawei experts on the most popular areas of ICT: mobile communication technologies, data storage solutions, technologies and protocols of interaction in IP networks, artificial intelligence methods.
Huawei Cup competitions have been held annually since 2015 with the aim of developing the professional skills of young specialists in the field of ICT, increasing their motivation for self-education. Festivals have already been held at the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics in Moscow, at the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, at Novosibirsk State University in Novosibirsk, at The Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications in St. Petersburg.
The next festival will be held at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University in Kazan on October, 29th.
The first stage involves more than 14,000 people - students and novice specialists from Russia and CIS countries. The prize fund this year is $40,000.
Huawei Cup organizer is Huawei, the world's leading provider of information and communication technology infrastructure and smart devices.
SPbSUT and its partners are developing cooperation with Huawei. On October, 21st, during the forum "Networks of the Future and Testing for Compliance and Interoperability", Rostelecom and Huawei signed a cooperation agreement at the University of Telecommunications. The parties will cooperate in the field of advanced ICT within the framework of the project of the International Telecommunication Union on the creation and development of an International Research and Testing Center for equipment, new technologies and services.
The project has been implemented at SPbSUT since October 2020 in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union and Rostelecom PJSC.
