SPbSUT summed up the results of the "Summer School on Information Security – 2022"

The All-Russian student scientific school "Summer School on Information Security" was held from September 14 - 19 at SPbSUT. Students from 39 educational institutions of higher education took part in the Summer School.

The event was held as part of the implementation of the Federal project "Information Security" of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation"

The "Summer School on Information Security – 2022" was aimed at identifying and developing intellectual and creative abilities, students' interest in research activities in the field of Information Security. The goal is to increase the level of theoretical knowledge of the participants and improve their practical skills to investigate cyber incidents.

Opening of the Summer School took place on 14 September. Dean of Faculty of Infocommunication Networks and Systems Darina Okuneva, Head of the Department of Secure Communication Systems Andrey Krasov addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Lectures and a tour of  St Petersburg were held on the first day.

Lectures and practical exercises with assignments from NPO “Echelon”, which specializes in integrated information security, were held on September 15th. Students of the Summer School became participants of the competition on the basis of the National Cyberpolygon on September 16. Students have successfully completed complex practical tasks to protect against current cyber threats. According to the terms of the assignment, it was necessary to develop a vulnerability scanner with a minimum set of necessary functions for its application in practice. Then the students had to test the resulting software: use it to analyze the infrastructure previously configured by the organizers and find the largest number of vulnerabilities in it.

The Mospolitech team (Maxim Panin, Alexey Siplatov) from Moscow Polytechnic University won the hackathon.

The hackathon was held on the basis of the North-Western Federal Educational Center of the National Cyber Range, which operates since February of this year at SPbSUT.

The All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference was held as part of the Summer School on September 18. The best reports in the following areas were presented at the Conference:

  • National Operating Systems
  •      Import Substitution in Network Equipment
  • Critical Information Infrastructures of the Russian Federation
  • Positive Technologies Traffic Monitoring and Analysis Systems
  • The Use of Firewalls to Ensure the Security of Access Networks
  • Basic Security Verification Algorithms. Pentes

The summer school ended on September 19. There was a presentation of the scanners of the participants' works within the framework of the "National Cyberpolygon", the announcement and awarding of winners and prize-winners in all categories, summing up the results of the Summer School.
