SPbSUT at the International Scientific Conference on the Arctic

On October 14th, an international scientific conference "The Arctic as an object of state policy" was held in the building of Twelve Colleges of St. Petersburg State University.

The event was attended by more than 200 participants: experts, representatives of federal and regional authorities, as well as diplomats from Finland, Norway and Canada. SPbSUT was represented at the conference by teachers of the Faculty of Social Digital Technologies - the head of the Department of History and Regional Studies Anton Geht and the teacher of the Department of History and Regional Studies Daria Patrusheva, as well as students of the Department of History and Regional Studies and the Institute of Magistracy.

During the conference, it was noted that among the main priorities of Russia's chairmanship in the Arctic Council is the promotion of international scientific cooperation. The development of the Arctic requires the evolution of collective solutions of the Arctic countries with new challenges facing the region.

German Shirokov, Chairman of the Arctic Affairs Committee, stressed in his speech that "the Arctic is undoubtedly the center of attention and the object of state policy of a number of states, a point of development and strengthening of international cooperation."

The conference also addressed topical issues of the policy of the Arctic states in relation to the Arctic, the directions of development of the Russian and foreign Arctic (including the development of human capital, cities, issues of resource extraction and protection of the Arctic environment). Special attention was paid to the "breakthrough" Arctic scientific research of recent years and the development of international scientific cooperation in the region.
