SPbSUT's students won the first Admiral D. N. Senyavin Cup in sailing races

On October 1, the Yal-2 sailing race competition-Admiral Senyavin D. N. Cup was held in the water area of lake Ivanovsky quarry. The competition was attended by young men and women who are engaged in sailing sections of educational institutions and clubs for young sailors.

The 1st year students of the faculty of Infocommunication networks and systems presented team of SPbSUT, previously engaged in the " Academy of sailing»: Dmitry Yakobson and Pavel Baryshnikov. The race was held in a very light wind and it took a lot of skill from the helmsmen and sheets to reach the sign against the wind and go around it. One of the boats, for example, could not pass the start line. Another one passed it only when our team finished victoriously in the race.

We congratulate the guys on a great sailing start and wish them further success in this sport!

SPbSUT's students who wanted to take part in the rowing and sailing elective came to cheer for their team: Dmitry Sivkov, Nikita Solovyov, Mikhail Surovegin, Ivan sakharovsky and Nikita Matyukhanov. They managed not only to watch rowing competitions among young sailors, but also to row on a six-oared yawl under the guidance of the master of sports of the USSR, teacher of the Department of physical culture S. V. Lutai. From the head of the Department of physical culture, master of sports of international class in rowing and sailing all-around A.V. Ivanenko students learned about rowing and sailing all-around, where the success of the team largely determines the skill of the steering-sailboat.

Ahead – the theory of sailing and rowing on simulators in the winter, and then - training on the water and participation in competitions. The goal of the events is to fulfill the category of "candidate for master of sports" in May-June 2021 and achieve the right to compete as a national team of St. Petersburg at the Russian Championships in 2021 in yawl racing and rowing and sailing all-around.
