On October 19th, the forum of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on future networks and compliance and compatibility tests started at the SPbSUT.
The event brought together representatives of ministries, regulatory authorities, telecommunications operators, scientific and design institutes, equipment manufacturers and software developers.
The guests were greeted by Georgy Mashkov, Acting Rector of SPbSUT, Natalia Mochu, Director of the regional branch of the International Telecommunication Union for the CIS region, and Alexey Borodin, Head of the Rostelecom representative office in Geneva. Unanimously noting the importance and relevance of the topic of the industry forum and the issues to be considered, they wished the participants success and fruitful work.
The first day of the forum was dedicated to the activities of ITU in the field of artificial intelligence, in which representatives of the ITU Standardization Bureau and the SPbSUT made speeches. Much attention was paid to the AI for good initiative. The aim of the initiative is to identify practical applications of artificial intelligence to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and scale these solutions to achieve global impact.
On the second day of the forum, October 20, an online meeting of the ITU-T Regional Group of the 11th Research Commission for Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Transcaucasia (SG11RG-EECAT) will take place.
The program of the event also includes a presentation of the ITU project "ITU International Research and Testing Center for Equipment, New Technologies and Services", an information session "ITU activities in the field of artificial intelligence" and conducting tests on the basis of the ITU together with interested countries.
