2021 marks the 15th anniversary of the death of Samba Lampsar, a student at the The Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.
Samba was killed in the center of St. Petersburg on April 7th, 2006, when he was returning home with friends from a club.
Senegalese Sall Samba Lampsar was an exemplary student: he studied well, actively developed student self-government in the Community of foreign students, performed at music parties and faculty days, conducted "Friendship Lessons" for St. Petersburg schoolchildren.
In 2005, he told the Svyazist.spb newspaper about the importance of peace, friendship and mutual understanding between people.
The tragic and untimely death of Samba was a shock to the entire city. His memory is cherished by all who knew and loved him.
The University of Telecommunications has a Samba Lampsar Scholarship. The scholarship rewards students for outstanding achievements in their studies and social activities, for their contribution to strengthening the multinational student environment.
"Samba is Russian. Russia is the second home of Samba and my second home. Thank you for all you did for Samba, " says Fatou Diop, Samba's mother, a Russian language teacher in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.
