The Day of Knowledge was held on September 1 at SPbSUT. Administration and students of our University managed to combine both entertainment and the official part of the event: greetings of honored guests and the Festival of youth projects "Meet Bonch!", rewarding activists and a concert.
Stands of student and youth associations unfolded at noon. First-year students got acquainted with activists of youth organizations and creative teams, as well as projects of SPbSUT partners, learned about the Student Council, numerous clubs, groups, and took pictures in photo zones.
The photo club “GutPhoto” and the eSports club “Cyber Bonch”, the Cultural and Leisure Center, and the sports club “Bonch Tigers”, “Radio Bonch”, and many others took part in the event. The State Hermitage Museum invited students to take part in the interactive quest "The Hermitage Labyrinth" - to get acquainted with historical figures and museum exhibits.
The solemn part of the Day of Knowledge opened in the afternoon on the stage in the courtyard of the University. The presenters of the event - graduates and employees of the University Kristina Izotova and Nikita Izotov congratulated first-year students on the beginning of their studies. Honored guests addressed the students after the solemn ceremony of introducing the flags of Russia and SPbSUT.
“Dear graduates of 2026–2027! I hope that in 4–5 years you will successfully graduate from the University and the name of one of you will be listed on the board of honor “The best graduate of the year”. We are glad that you made the right choice, this choice is worthy of you and us. Our University is proud of its graduates, among them - Boris Gryzlov, Leonid Reiman, Alexander Belsky and other scientists and teachers, organizers of industry and education. I want to wish you to become professionals in your field! The University will do everything to become your second home, a real alma mater. Good luck!" - said Acting Rector of SPbSUT Georgy Mashkov.
Vice-Governor of St Petersburg Stanislav Kazarin greeted the students on behalf of Governor of the city Alexander Beglov: “Dear teachers, staff, students! I congratulate you on the Day of Knowledge, with the beginning of the new academic year! We are starting this year in a completely different geopolitical situation. We clearly understand that Telecommunications industry and IT Technologies are becoming not just a competitive advantage for the country, but the main reserve of our industry, economy, human capital development. It is a very good choice that you are here. This is the most important decision in your life. You can be proud that it is your hands that will create a new technological space in Russia. Welcome to this new changed technological world!”
Congratulations on the Day of Knowledge were also conveyed to the students from Yulia Smirnova Chairman of the Committee for Informatization and Communications of St Petersburg.
“Student years are the time when the foundations of a future career are laid, a person’s life position is formed. A number of educational areas have been created at the University, and the Committee has traditionally supported it in organizing events. I want to express my gratitude to the employees who have been producing highly qualified specialists for the industry for many years!” - noted in the congratulations.”
Vice-President - Director of Rostelecom North-West macro-regional branch Alexander Loginov noted that first-year students are entering a new, very interesting and most important period of their lives.
Alexander Vyalkov Head of Retail Sales in St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region of VTB Bank congratulated the students on behalf of the bank's friendly team: “I would like to congratulate you on the first day of entering a new life. Today you are entering into the wonderful life of a student. Strive for career growth, gain knowledge, love yourself, teachers and your University!”
The chairman of the territorial organization of St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region of the Trade Union of Communications Workers of Russia Elena Dovgaleva congratulated employees, teachers and students on the Day of Knowledge: “Use your student years in a quality way to justify your hopes, learn a profession. Heads of all enterprises and organizations are waiting for you! Participate in social, sports, cultural, trade union activities, which are very developed at the University. There are many opportunities for self-development here. Easily learn new things, it will be very useful to you in life. Believe in yourself and your strength!”
The presenters reminded that this year SPbSUT entered the top 3 popular universities of St Petersburg among applicants: it accepted more than 59,000 applications for admission. At the same time, Bonch is not only education, but also science, sports, creativity and student self-government, the organizers noted. Then the best students of the year were awarded.

- "The best in student sports" - Oksana Skurygina, Institute of Magistracy;
- "The best in artistic creativity" - Veronika Romanenko, Faculty of Social Digital Technologies;
- "The best organizer of creativity and leisure programs" - Elena Maksimova, Faculty of Radiotechnologies of Communication;
- "The best organizer of work with student groups" - Azalia Valeeva, Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies;
- "The best organizer of student self-government in an educational organization of higher education" - Artyom Alekseev, Faculty of Infocommunication Networks and Systems;
- "The best organizer of student self-government in the dormitory" - Irina Yarygina, Faculty of Radiotechnologies of Communication;
- "The best promoter and organizer in the field of a healthy lifestyle" - Pavel Khramko, Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies;
- "Overcoming of the Year" - Mikhail Zurikov, Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies;
- "The best in patriotic work" - Valentin Zapeka, Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies.
Georgy Inkin, Evgenia Karanova, Victoria Zherebtsova, Nikita Bogan received awards in the nomination "Student Perspective".
Artyom Alekseev Chairman of the Student Council of SPbSUT noted that the first-year students entered "the best Telecommunications University in the world and one of the best Universities in Russia."
The best honorary activists of SPbSUT were students Georgy Urvantsev, Valeria Pobegalova, Valentin Zapeka, Valeria Saprykina, Elena Maksimova, Matvey Prusakov, Anastasia Surkova, Anastasia Zotova, Alexander Bober, Egor Ryabinsky, Ekaterina Bryukhanova.
SPbSUT Vice-Rector for educational work and public relations Irina Alekseenko noted that student self-government is an important part of the life of our University. Students do a lot themselves, implement interesting projects, help students in their studies, do sport. She awarded the participants and winners of the Student Council competition.
The students were greeted by the Deans of faculties and Heads of Academic Departments. Dean of Faculty of Infocommunication Networks and Systems Darina Okuneva celebrated her twentieth September 1 at Bonch on this day and wished the students diligence, self-realization and success in their professional activities. Dean of Faculty of Radiotechnologies of Communication Dmitry Kirik said that the deans will try to provide students with good knowledge that will help them achieve high results in life.
The cover band JD Band performed at the end of the Festival. Together with the artists, students and staff sang hits, played the drums and could not resist the incendiary dances.
