Science by simple words

27th, February the fourth "Stand-up scientists" event called "not a Science Slam" was organised by the SUT Student Council Committee on scientific work. 5 speakers come to the microphone to talk about their research in an accessible and interesting way during "not a Science Slam". Students, postgraduates and teachers of SUT, young scientists and all those who are not indifferent to science may present their works.

The first performance of "GMO through the eyes of an engineer" was prepared by Rashid alli, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of radio communication technologies.

The second performance was the case of genetic engineering: the actual genetics from the programmer was introduced by Sergeev Evgeny – the student of 1th year of the faculty of Infocommunication networks and systems.

The invited speaker Daria Perepelyuk has opened the actual question for the majority of students - how to break into the world of innovations? In addition, Daria shared her own experience of the project in "Innovative radio Electronics" from the idea to the startup.

Dmitry Kapralov, senior lecturer of Department of Design and production of radio electronic means, presented the topic "Pervasive healthcare smart system: research and prospects".

The final report "Biological man and cybernetic computer: a new stage of relations" was introduced by Alexander Semenov, 2nd year student of the Faculty of radio communication technologies. Alexander performs for the third time, he managed to talk about depression and the benefits of music, and this time he spoke about the new modern levels of human interaction with machines and technologies.

At the end of the event, the best speaker was determined by the volume of applause, the measurements were made by sound level meter. The winner was Alexander Semenov, he took the traditional prize - branded Boxing gloves.

This was the fourth "not a Science Slam" in SUT.


The VIII International scientific-technical and scientific-methodical conference "Actual problems of infotelecommunications in science and education" was held in SUT

27th-28th, February the VIII International scientific-technical and scientific-methodical conference "Actual problems of infotelecommunications in science and education" was held in SUT.
The organizations of St. Petersburg and other regions of the Russian Federation, representatives of such foreign countries as: Armenia, Slovenia, Poland, Finland, Syria, Angola, Vietnam, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Tajikistan, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Belarus, joined the conference. 540 reports were presented at the subsection's meetings this year. An exhibition of prospective innovative developments of SUT was held as part of the conference. The latest developments and solutions were presented by the conference partners: LLC "T8" and "RODE and SCHWARTZ RUS".

SUT on ICACT2019

Associate Professor of the Department of radio and broadcasting of SUT Grigory Fokin took part in the 21st International conference ICACT (International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology), which was held from 17th to 20th, February in Pyeongchang (South Korea). Prof.Fokin made a report on the topic: "Passive geolocation based on unmanned aerial vehicles using the processing of difference-range and angular measurements».

ICACT conference is held under the auspices of IEEE, it's works are indexed in SCOPUS and WoS databases. Research on the presented topics is supported by the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the state support of young Russian scientists.

Congratulations to the PHD candidate of engineering!

In accordance with the order of the Ministry of education and science of 4th, February 2019 No. 74/HK graduate student of the Radio and broadcasting Department of the SUT Al-Adhari Abdulwahab Hussain Ali was issued a diploma of PHD candidate of engineering.

The University management and the entire staff congratulates Al-Adhari Abdulwahab Hussain Ali and his supervisor, Ph. D., associate professor G.A.Fokin.

The presentation took place on 3rd,October 2018 at the meeting of the dissertation Council D 212.238.03, established at the St. Petersburg State electrotechnical University named after V. I. Ulyanov (Lenin).

10 years of SUT choir "Cantares"

The jubilee concert of the SUT chamber choir "Cantares" was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere at the concert hall "Jaani Kirik".

The concert was attended by colleagues and friends of the choir: chamber choir "Collegium Cantus", club "Vyborg side", the choir of admirers of singing named after E. P. Kudryavtseva and choir of the North-West State Medical University named after prof. I. I. Mechnikov. The bands performed works of spiritual and folk music, russian and foreign classics, modern arrangements of popular works.

Chamber choir "Cantares" traditionally takes part in student choirs festivals of St. Petersburg universities and other cities of Russia, as well as in the cultural life of our University.

Created in 2005 under the leadership of Ekaterina Stepanova vocal ensemble of SUT has passed a long way of creative development. It gained The status of the choir in 2009, when it first took part in the Sretensky festival of spiritual and folk music.

Currently, about 30 people are singing in the choir - students and graduates of the University. The choir performs works of Russian spiritual and folk music, Russian and foreign classics, modern arrangements of popular works. To this day, the permanent head of the choir remains Ekaterina Stepanova, and the choirmaster - Rostislav Firsov.

Congratulations to the artists of the choir, choirmasters, the head, all those who have been working on the creation of a youth, bright, successful team for these 10 years!

Students and lecturers of the SUT on 2019 ElConRus

Students and graduates of the SUT and their supervisors – took part in the VI International conference of young researchers of Russia on electrical engineering and electronics (2019 ElConRus), which was held in St. Petersburg from 28th to 31th, January.

Participants presented the reports in the following areas: Communication, Networking & Broadcasting, Signal Processing & Analysis, etc. Speakers demonstrated not only a high technical level of their work, but also a good knowledge of English. A number of studies have attracted interest from foreign experts. It is expected to index all of the reports in the Scopus database.

Meeting of Managing committees of Centers of Professional Skills of ITU

The head of international cooperation department of SUT Irina Karimova participated in the meeting of the Professional Excellence Centres (CMP) Steering committees of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for Europe and the CIS countries which was held on 7-8th, February in Warsaw.

Our University has identified the following areas for training seminars and trainings: "Internet of things", "Information security" and "Digital broadcasting".

SUT at the XV Baltic Scientific and Engineering Research Competition

SUT acted as a partner of the XV Baltic Scientific and Engineering Research Competition, held on February, 4-7.

The goal of the competition is to form young people’s interest in basic and applied science, engaging in research activities. More than 500 schoolchildren from different regions of Russia and neighboring countries demonstrated their developments in the field of mathematics, physics, engineering, programming, robotics and other sciences.

 Within the framework of the XV Baltic Science and Engineering Competition, presentations, free lectures and workshops were organized by Russian scientists and companies. SUT staff of the pre-university training department S. Andrianova and E. Gorokhova conducted a presentation at the SUT exhibition stand and were introducing our university to the participants throughout the event.


On 31st, January the annual Forum of National Information Security «INFOFORUM-2019» was held in the building of the Moscow Government.

Within the framework of the Forum, the winners and laureates of the All-Russian Student and Young Specialists Competition «INFOFORUM – A New Generation» were awarded prizes. Among of the awardees were students and teachers from the universities affiliated with Federal Communications Agency including St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.

For the second time the prize for the “Best Educational Center of the Year” was received by the Department of Secure Communication Systems (SCS) of SUT. In the current academic year, the department of SCS received a license and began recruiting for the specialty 10.05.02 “Information Security of Telecommunication Systems”. The training of graduates in this specialty is carried out in the interests of the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control of Russia and other state security agencies.

It should be noted that the Department of SCS, SUT had already been previously awarded at this Forum, this year it again showed excellent results: the best department, the best professor, the best student and third place in the All-Russian competition of student research papers.

30th, January "Memorandum of understanding" between the Advantech company – global manufacturer of the equipment for industrial automation and The Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications has been signed.

The top officials of the Advantech company from Taipei – Vincent Chiang, the director of intercontinental sales department, and Stephanie Chiang, the head on business planning and the analysis, and also their colleagues - Ramil Rakhmankulov the head of IIoT the Northwest and V. Komardin, the director of the Conel company, were a part of delegation. The Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications was presented by the rector Sergey Bachevsky, the head of Department of the International cooperation Irina Karimova, the dean of Faculty of Radio technologies of communication D. Quiricus, the head of the Department of a radio communication and broadcasting O.Vorobyov, the chief of Wireless Infotelecommunication Networks scientific education center R. Andreyev and also the senior teacher of Department of a Radio communication and broadcasting A.A. Prasolov.
