In June 2022, a Youth model of the International Telecommunication Union will be organized for the first time at The Bonch-Bruevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications.
The purpose of the event is to form a deep understanding among young people of the activities and prospects for the development of the information and telecommunications technology industry, the importance of international cooperation in this area.
ITU is a specialized UN agency in the field of communications, which involves leading experts in this field from around the world: representatives of industry, academic organizations, relevant ministries and government regulators. Our university has been an academic member of the Union since 2012.
The ITU Youth Model will launch a new format of interaction between young specialists in the ICT industry. The event will last 5 days and will include acquaintance with the history, structure, activities of one of the oldest international organizations in the world, lectures and master classes by leading experts in the field of ICT, preparation of draft contributions and recommendations of ITU regional delegations, reproduction of the work of research commissions, cultural program. The working languages of the event will be Russian and English.
Irina Karimova, Head of the International Cooperation Department, took the initiative to organize and conduct the Youth Model of the International Telecommunication Union. The concept of a joint event between SPbSUT and ITU was presented at the All-Russian competition "Leaders of International Cooperation", as well as at the international youth forum "Eurasia Global", receiving positive feedback from experts.
The team of organizers and experts, which consists of experienced specialists in the field of science and education, international cooperation, as well as representatives of telecommunications companies, has already started preparing the event.
