Vivat, the Festival! The International Festival of National Cultures has been completed in SPbSUT

From May 17th to May 20th, the International Festival of National Cultures (FNC), a traditional celebration of spring and friendship, was held in SPbSUT. This year the event celebrated its 18th anniversary and for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic was held in a face-to-face format.

At the opening ceremony of the festival, the Vice-rector for Educational Work and Public Relations Irina Alekseenko and the head of the International Cooperation Department Irina Karimova addressed the guests and participants with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of intercultural communication and friendship among students.

On the first day of the FNC, the teams of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were presented. The guests were told about the traditions of the countries, and also prepared for tasting shah-pilaf, beshbarmak, baursak, kutabs, as well as oriental sweets. The sounds of a rhythmic drum complemented the presentation of the guys from Azerbaijan, encouraging the guests to dance.

The second day of the Festival was just as bright – students from Russia and Algeria presented their national dishes. In addition to tasting, guests could take part in an impromptu competition of Russian ditties. At the end of the program, the students danced Russian folk dances.

On the third day, Vietnam students presented their country to the guests of the FNC. Everyone managed to appreciate Vietnamese cuisine and traditions – students presented their dishes on five tables at once. The guests highly appreciated the preparation of the students and did not skimp on praise and words of gratitude.

On the final day of the Festival, a competition of video postcards prepared by students from Algeria, Angola, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Tunisia was also held.

This year , the prizes of the culinary competition in three categories were distributed as follows:

"Main course"

1st place – VIETNAM team
2nd place – ALGERIAN team
3rd place – the Azerbaijani team

"Dessert"

1st place – the Azerbaijani team
2nd place – VIETNAM team
3rd place – ALGERIAN team

"Table decoration"

1st place – the Azerbaijani team
2nd place – ALGERIAN team
3rd place – VIETNAM team

After awarding diplomas and gifts to the winners, all participants and guests of the event were offered another treat – a traditional cake.
